Chey Crafts Pottery

All pieces are 100% handmade using stoneware clay, with my own Nabertherm kiln I bisque fired at 950°C and glaze fired between 1220°C and 1250°C. The glazes used are food safe, and the pottery can be used in both dishwasher and microwave. At Clayspace the firings are cone 06 for bisque, and cone 10 for glaze.

 

I work with various underglazes, glazes and decorating techniques to create effects that accentuate the shape of the pieces. While in the Netherlands I was using mainly Mayco, Welte and Botz glazes, as well as some pigments. At Clayspace I have several house glazes to choose from and I have been exploring more glaze combinations and slip applications with sgraffito.

I am excited to keep exploring new materials and techniques. The joy of ceramics to me is that there is always something new to learn, and unloading the kiln and seeing how things come out is always a pleasant surprise.
