Chey Crafts
My name is Noël, and I started Chey Crafts in 2021 in my hometown of Kruiningen, where my studio was located. I moved back to Oregon in 2023, and am now exploring options to continue my passion on a part time basis, so my webshop is down while I produce some new creations.
I started working with ceramics when I took a wheel throwing class at Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, OR in 2019 and it sparked a passion that I have been pursuing ever since. In 2020 Clay Space in Eugene, OR became my home base for creation, and I was a member there until my move back to Europe in the summer of 2021. I have now re-joined Clayspace, and am thrilled to once again be a part of the ceramics community here.
I am working primarily with stoneware clay, and love using different decorating techniques to create unique and sometimes unexpected results, which is why every piece made by me is one of a kind.
During the initial lockdown, I started exploring painting again as well, and have been using oil paints to depict subjects that inspire me, mostly flowers and landscapes. I enjoy working with vivid colors and love creating layers of depth that bring a vibrancy to the canvas.
Overall working with clay and oil paints allows me to create a little haven of peace and joy in a turbulent times, and I hope I can spread some of the positive vibes to others through my work.
